WINNERS - March 2023

7th Edition of the European Cinematography AWARDS

Best Film of the Month

TITLE: Midnight Ride (United Kingdom)

DIRECTOR: Alessandro Farrattini Pojani

PRODUCER: Lionelle Galloppa

DOP: Stephen James Dunn

About the Film:

A drug-dealing, Italian delivery rider resorts to robbing a South London burrito joint after his bike and drugs are stolen, little knowing he might be the one taken for a ride all along.

Director Biography:

Born and bred in Rome, Alessandro forms the collective Goodbye Venezuela! out of university, producing shorts and commercials, before moving to London in 2014. Here, Alessandro furthers his directing career under the banner of Sonderby Films. His stories are grounded in a deep interest for other people and the will to creatively explore the merging of different cultures, with a particular eye to bridge the gap between the two countries he lives and loves, Italy and the UK. He is currently developing his debut dramatic feature.

Alessandro has also matured a deep-rooted network in both the UK and US film industry, having shadowed/assisted a slew of leading creatives, including but not limited to Oscar-nominated producers Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin (The Banshees of Inisherin, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and director Augustine Frizzell (Euphoria, Never Going Back). He is currently working alongside veteran director SJ Clarkson on the Sony/Marvel blockbuster Madame Web.

Alessandro is a 2021 Reykjavík Film Festival Talent Lab alumni.
