WINNERS - October 2019

4th Edition of the European Cinematography AWARDS

Best Film of the Month

TITLE: Atlas (Poland)

DIRECTOR & WRITER: Maciej Kawalski

PRODUCER: Ewa Jastrzebska

DOP: Pawel Dyllus

About the Film:

The story takes us to a remote, and a bit crazy, psychiatric hospital, which receives a curious patient — the man doesn’t move nor speak, but spends his days standing with his hands up. The only thing known is his nickname — “Atlas”. In a word, he is a riddle, and a riveting one at that.

Starring Tomasz Kot — the lead of ‘Cold War,’ a film nominated for three Academy Awards, who is also to star as Nicola Tesla in an upcoming biopic.

Atlas is currently qualified to be considered for 92nd Academy Awards having won two Oscar Qualifying Film Festivals.

About Director:

Maciej Kawalski is an award-winning writer-director and a Doctor of Medicine.
His latest production is a prime time TV series for Canal+ “Mały Zgon,” which Maciej wrote and directed.
His previous script, The Clearing, was acquired by Stanislaw Dziedzic, (Producer of Mr Jones by Academy Award nominated Agnieszka Holand) for development with Brian Frankish (Producer of Field of Dreams).
Currently, with backing of Polish Film Institute, Maciej develops his debut feature ‘Gentlemen of Zakopane,’ starring Tomasz Kot as the lead.
